HUGE running costs have led to the demise of a music festival staged on a Somerset farm over several years.

Organisers of FarmFest, at Gilcombe Farm, Bruton, called off this year's event planned for August 3 to 5 and said they will not be reviving it in the future.

The writing was on the wall for the future of the three-day extravaganza when last year's festival was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

The organisers have issued a statement saying: "We are incredibly sad to announce the end of FarmFest.

"As a small independent festival, it is a fine line we have struggled to tread and sadly the result is we must bring FarmFest to a close.

"This announcement will not come as a surprise to many of you who have so patiently been waiting for an update on out 2023 plans."

People who had already bought tickets can upgrade them to attend Valley Fest, in Chew Magna on the same weekend.

Alternatively, they can request a refund or donate the ticket value to WaterAid.

Ticket sellers will be in touch with ticket holders to inform them what to do.

The FarmFest staement added: "We want to send out our heartfeltgratitude to everyone who has supported FarmFest over the 15 years since it started.

"We're gutted this marks the end, but we still have all the fantastic memories of partying on the farm together."
