A DEVELOPER who knocked down a former pub has been told he cannot build homes on the site.
The White Hart, in North Curry, was legally demolished last month, provoking a storm of protest in the village.
Developers Loadace applied to build six two-bedroom homes and two one-bed flats there.
But last night Taunton Deane Council's planning committee threw out the application.
Councillors ruled that the offer of the two flats as social housing was insufficient because there were no people in North Curry on the housing waiting list for one-bed accommodation.
A previous application for eight homes on the site is the subject of an appeal as it was not decided within the statutory time limit.
