Row as gypsy homes win approval

A GYPSY family has won planning permission to stay in a field where they have set up home.

Henry Small was told by planners last night that he, his wife and five children can carry on living in the field off Dene Road, in Cotford St Luke.

A previous application for the homes, which were moved onto the site last November, was turned down.

But Taunton Deane Council's planning committee voted to accept a fresh planning application, which involves moving the homes so they are less visible from the road.

Feelings were running high at last night's meeting, when Cllr Tony Beavan was ordered to stop reading an anonymous letter for fear it contained slanderous remarks.

For more planning decisions see this website and the Somerset County Gazette next Thursday.
