PRINCE Edward, the Earl of Wessex, was in Taunton today to officially open a new £1.6million residential development.
The Abbeyfield complex for the elderly is located at Northfield Court, off Wood Street.
The Earl enjoyed a cuppa and a chat with residents before unveiling a plaque to commemorate his visit.
The Earl was greeted by Taunton Deane's new Mayor, Cllr Tim Slattery, and other civic dignitaries.
Watch this website for a video report of Prince Edward's visit - and get next Thursday's Somerset County Gazette for a full report and photos.
