Wellington boss plans for Premier

WELLINGTON manager Leigh Robinson says his side will not be just making up the numbers in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League.

The Tangerines sealed the Division One title following their 3-3 draw Minehead on Wednesday night.

And Robinson, in his first season as boss, is already planning for next season.

He said: "We won't be there just to make up the numbers. We've already got a few things in mind, regarding changes we want to make and players we'd like to bring in.

"I want to keep the players that have done so well this season. It's exciting to think what they can achieve another year on.

"There's obviously a quality gap between Division One and the Premier, but we've scored so many goals this season, that it's got to count for something even at the higher level."

Robinson was full of praise for his squad for their success. He said: "It's a massive achievement.

"What pleases me most, is that, at the start of the season absolutely no-one expected Wellington to win the title. It's like Everton or Aston Villa winning the Premiership.

"At times, we've passed sides off the pitch but, when we've had to, we battled and dug results out."

However, Wellington will be without prolific, veteran striker Nick Woon next season. Woon, who has hit over 30-goals this season has decided to end his Wellington career on a high.

WELLINGTON will receive the Toolstation League Division One trophy and medals after their final game of the season at Shepton Mallet on Saturday.

The club are running a coach to the game and anyone interested in going should ring 01823-661697 (after 4pm).
